I had this sudden urge to look up Richard Avedon on Wikipedia:
Richard Avedon (May 15, 1923 – October 1, 2004) was an American photographer. An obituary, published in The New York Times following Avedon’s death said that, “his fashion and portrait photographs helped define America’s image of style, beauty and culture for the last half-century.”
Last year, a few weeks after seeing his exhibit at the International Center for Photography (ICP) in New York City, I had the privilege of being invited to visit his foundation office near the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) where I had the chance to see the entire archive of his negatives and prints.
He’s still my favorite.
